Havel navždy Havel forever

Oldřich Škácha (1941) fotografoval Václava Havla nejen v jeho prezidentském období (jako mnoho jiných), ale už od počátku 70. let, v kruhu rodícího se disentu, a pak i v době, kdy se z prezidenta stal „obyčejným občanem Havlem“. Škácha nebyl nikdy oficiálním hradním fotografem, a tak na jeho snímcích můžeme vidět Václava Havla nejen při práci, ale také ve chvílích odpočinku či při mnoha soukromých setkáních s přáteli umělci či politiky. Více než 60 černobílých fotografií dává nahlédnout do zákulisí Havlova světa – do kterého Oldřich Škácha patřil po celých 40 let velmi nepozorovaně, skryt za objektivem své leiky, ale o to více přítomně, bezprostředně a s emocí, která bude naší generaci vlastní patrně už navždy…

Havel navždy (Havel Forever) is a book of Oldřich Škácha’s photographs capturing Václav Havel between 1975 and 2011. Oldřich Škácha (1941) photographed Václav Havel not only during his time as president (as did many others) but also from the start of the 1970s, in emerging dissent circles, and later also in the period when he turned from a president into “regular citizen Havel”. Škácha was never an official Prague Castle photographer, meaning that in his pictures we see Václav Havel not only at work but also in periods of rest or during numerous private meetings with friends in the arts or politicians. More than 60 black and white photographs provide an insight into Havel’s world – in which for a full 40 years Škácha belonged in a very inconspicuous manner, hidden behind the lens of his Leica but for all that more present, at close quarters, and with the emotion that will forever be particular to our generation…
